Within the framework of the expanded eight-province Northwest Community Tourism Village Festival in 2023. On November 18, 2023, at Mai Chau Tourist Area, a culinary tourism competition took place and was a great success, leaving local people and tourists good impressions of traditional dishes of the Northwest region.

Participating in the contest and performance were nine community tourism villages of six provinces: Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Phu Tho, Ha Giang, Lao Cai and Son La. Ban Van community tourist destination, Mai Chau town, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province; Cha Day community tourist destination, Pa Co commune, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province; Lo Lo Chai community cultural tourism village, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province; Sin Suoi Ho community tourism village, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province; Ban Lac community tourist destination, Chieng Chau commune, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province; Community tourist destination in Chien hamlet, Van Son commune, Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province; Community tourism site in Sung hamlet, Cao Son commune, Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province; Community tourism village in Luot village, Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district, Son La province.

At the culinary contest, the villages brought dishes made from local products, rich in national identity and unique flavors. With many dishes meticulously prepared from ingredients and spices from the mountains and forests, beautifully decorated by artisans of the Community Tourism Villages, it has created very attractive, delicious, and entertaining trays of rice. Shows the richness of Northwest cuisine. In addition to the scoring competition, the villages prepare additional dishes and beverage products to introduce and promote to domestic and international tourists. Not only does it aim to honor and promote national cultural identity, the contest is also an opportunity to introduce high-quality dishes to serve tourists.

Results: The highest award has three first prizes belonging to: Chien hamlet community tourism site, Van Son commune, Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province and Sung hamlet community tourism destination, Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province and with Xuan Son commune community tourism site, Phu Tho province. Second prize went to the community tourism villages of Ban Luot, Son La province; Ban Van, Mai Chau, Hoa Binh province and Cha Day village, Mai Chau, Hoa Binh. Third prize went to Sin Suoi Ho community tourism villages, Lai Chau province; Ban Van, Hoa Binh province, and Lo Lo Chai tourism village, Ha Giang province.
