Not far from Mai Chau town is Lac village, Chieng Chau commune - a famous community cultural tourist destination at home and abroad. Lac village has been around for over 700 years, in the past, the villagers only lived on rice cultivation and brocade weaving. In 1993, the People's Committee of Mai Chau district officially asked Hoa Binh province to allow tourists to stay overnight in the village. Currently, in addition to 76 stilt houses for tourism located in Lac village outside, there is also an expansion of Lac village 2, located inside with homestays serving the overnight needs of tourists. The architecture of the stilt house still retains the ancient traditions of the Thai people on stilts, a symbol of the harmony between nature, heaven, earth, and people. The house on stilts in Lac village is made high, cool and clean inside with full blankets, cushions and pillows folded neatly and ready to serve tourists. Next to the sleeping floor is the sitting floor to eat rice and have tea. The rustic and cozy way of life partly connects people who meet each other for the first time and become familiar.
