Experience the White Stone Mountain Pass, enjoy Thung Khe sticky corn

Adventurous tourists who like to see majestic mountains can not ignore the White Stone Mountain pass (in Vietnamese: Deo Da Trang). Connecting two districts of Mai Chau and Tan Lac in Hoa Binh province, White Stone Mountain pass (also known as Thung Khe pass) has long been famous for its unique beauty. Due to the process of breaking the mountain for paving the way, the rocks from above fall and create a white color covering the whole slope. While crossing the pass, visitors feel like going on a road in the middle of the European snow-covered way.

Though the road is winding like a silk strip crossing the clouds and the sky, it is not too dangerous and difficult to go like Ma Phi Leng pass. Recently White Stone Mountain pass is the choice of many young people to experience their driving skill and check in extremely unique and romantic scenes.

Located at an altitude of more than 1,000m above sea level, White Stone Mountain pass is covered with clouds all year round. From the top of the pass, visitors can see the whole valley with peaceful villages at a far distance. On top of the pass, there are also small shops selling local products to serve tourists. While coming here, do not forget to enjoy Thung Khe sticky corn - a famous local specialty.

 With a cool year-round climate, fertile soil, Thung Khe sticky corn has its own delicious taste with large corn, firm seeds but thin skin; when boiled, the corn is ivory white and shiny; you can taste the characteristic plasticity and sweetness. In order for boiled corns to retain its delicious taste and sweetness, after picking, people usually boil them immediately then put it out after cook right away as if left in the pot for a long time, the nutrition of the corn will be easily lost and palatability is reduced

The attraction of boiled glutinous corn is also in the sweet taste of corn juice. To make corn juice more delicious, when boiling, people often add some sugar cane to make the juice richer. 

Đây còn là điểm nối giữa huyện Mai Châu và huyện Tân Lạc - nơi dừng chân của nhiều hành khác khi di chuyển lên các tỉnh như Sơn La, Điện Biên.

On winter days, if traveling through Thung Khe Pass, visitors will see this specialty sold by the locals by the roadside. So buying some as gifts for their loved ones, or simply, stopi by the small shop to enjoy the hot, fragrant boiled corn and breathing in the cold of the Northwest winter are extremely interesting experiences.
