The name "Bai Bui" is probably still not familiar to tourists as it only involves in tourism activities a few years ago. Bai in Vietnamese means a vast grass/or not grass place, Bui is the name of the place.

First, perhaps you need to know a bit about the geographical location of Bai Bui. Bai Bui is located in Khop hamlet, Ngoc Lau commune, Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province. If starting from Ha Noi, the distance to Bai Bui ranges from about 130 km to 150 km, depending on whether you follow Highway 6 or the Ho Chi Minh trail.

Coming to Bai Bui, you will surely be surprised because in the middle of the mountains, there is a vast green prairie with flat grass and ancient "Châu" trees (or "Chau", "Tlau"). For a long time, Chau trees are always the pride of local people. In the past, there were hundreds of old Chau trees on Bai Bui, but due to time, now there are only about 60 trees left. In 2007, the Commune People's Council issued a Resolution on these ancient Chau trees conservation.

Chau trees has the same shape as the maple tree in Europe. In summer, they provide cool shades, in autumn to winter, the leaves gradually change from yellow to red. On the occasion near Tet or after Tet, visitors can see the whole forest with dozens of Chau trees simultaneously changing color. The young buds that have just sprouted are red, moving gently in cold winter winds. Some leaves are blown to one side with a very interesting shape. Another special thing is that young Chau leaves are a familiar food to Muong ethnic people here. The leaves are often used to eat with pickled meat or boiled meat to raise a satisfying sour taste and reduce the greasy of meat.

Now, under the Chau trees, local people have made more bamboo swings for visitors to chill. Activities here such as camping, swinging and meadows check-in are all free. Because tourism here is just developing, when visiting, remember to prepare necessary items, and do not forget to keep the environment clean and beautiful so that there is always a green prairie in the middle of the mountains.
