The tourist guide presentation contest was one of the contents within the framework of the expanded Northwest Provinces Community Tourism Village Festival in 2023. This was a contest for tourist guides at community tourism destinations in each locality.
The competition had the participation of 10 contestants from community tourism villages. These were truly messengers of community tourism destinations. The tourist guides of the tourist villages gave an impressive introduction to the beautiful natural landscape, traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups and the unique characteristics of the community tourism villages. Each contestant had a very unique way of expressing themselves to create an impression to promote tourism products in their local community.

The contestants went through the demonstration skills test, which included demonstrations at the exhibition spaces of tourist villages at the Festival. In the presentation contest, each contestant chose a tour or tourist destination in the area to introduce and promote. At the end of each contestant's presentation, there was a section to answer questions from members of the examiner Board. It can be seen that with careful preparation in content, costumes and skills, the contestants created a vibrant and attractive space. In particular, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh, three contestants participated. The 10 contestants not only introduced to tourists the unique cultural features of the Mong, Dao, Thai, Lo Lo, etc. ethnic groups living in the area but also promoted beautiful images and attractive tourist destinations for tourists who come to the Northwest provinces, where have diverse and attractive destinations.

Results: The highest award with three first prizes went to the tourist guides: Bui Quang Chinh, tourist guide - Nghia Do commune community tourism village, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province; Hang Thi Qua, tourist guide - Sin Suoi Ho community tourism village, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province; Vi Thi Lan Phuong, tourist guide - Ban Lac community tourist site, Chieng Chau commune, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province. The second prize went to the contestants: Lo Thi Duyen, Tourist Guide - Luot village community tourism village, Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district, Son La province; Bui Van Cuong, tourist guide - Chien hamlet community tourism site, Van Son commune, Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province; Ly Thi Hang, Tourist Guide - Community tourist destination in Sung hamlet, Cao Son commune, Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province. Third prize went to contestants: Chau Thi Nga, Tourist Guide - Xuan Son Commune Community Tourist Site, Tan Son District, Phu Tho Province; Ha Thi Mai, tourist guide - Ban Van community tourist destination, Mai Chau town, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province; Song Thi Tong, tourist guide - Cha Day community tourist site, Pa Co commune, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province; Sin Din Gai, tourist guide - Lo Lo Chai community cultural tourism village, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province.

This is an opportunity for tourist guides at community tourism sites to exchange and learn, and at the same time promote the natural land and local culture to colleagues, residents and tourists. The contestants have shown themselves to be very professional tourist guides and have knowledge about culture and tourism.
Through the evaluation of the jury, the quality of the tourist guides participating in the contest is very professional, with a clear and confident explanatory style, conveying meaningful messages that meet the needs of the audiences and travelers. These will be typical factors that contribute to improving the quality of the tourism team of Northwest community tourism in general.
The Tourist guide competition at the 2023 of the Expanded Northwest Provinces Community Tourism Villages Festival was a useful playground, creating conditions for tourist guides to exchange, learn from experience, and improve their qualifications and professional skills. This also aims to discover and select good tourist guides to continue training and developing a team of professional, high-quality tour guides.
