Hoa Binh Hydroelectric Plant Project was recognized as a local tourist attraction on December 10, 2014 according to the decision No. 2047/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh Province.

Annually, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant welcomes nearly 60,000 visitors to visit the project, this is a huge industrial complex with many interesting items and attractions such as: Tunnels of engine room and operation center, the monument, the museum of hydroelectric station, the dam blocks the river, the spill way and the monument of President Ho Chi Minh. When coming to the Hydropower Plant, the first point for tourists is the tunnel of the engine room and operation center. Standing outside, we can see the hill is still intact, the trees are green, but in the heart of the mountain is an underground construction with a total length of 20 km tunnel. Follow the traffic tunnel into the engine room tunnel, tourists can see the tunnel for the engine and operation room has a height of 50.5m, a width of 19.5m, and a length of 260m. Here, equipment of 8 units is installed.

From the engine room in the heart of the mountain, we turned to visit the Monument of 168 engineers and workers who lost their life when building the project (including 13 Soviet experts). The brave sacrifices of 168 children of Vietnam - the Soviet Union have carved into the history of construction of the country a radiant monument, forever shining with the Da River.

To the Museum of Hydroelectricity, standing here can observe the entire dam blocking the river. The museum has many unique artifacts. There are drilling machines and excavators that have created the miracle of opening the way in the mountain at a record level in Vietnam. Especially, there is a concrete slab where the letter from the builders of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant is kept to future generations that will be opened on January 1, 2100.

Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, viewed from above, visitors will see the dam blocking the river with soil and rock with a volume of over 24 million m3, 743m long, 128m high, 820m thick at the base of the dam, with a waterproof core in the middle. There are filter layers on both sides, under the dam, there is a drilling membrane deep into the rock base. To build this huge dam, many stages must be carried out and through 2 times of filling the river, the water of the Da River is completely subdued, flowing through new man-made structures. On the left bank of the head of the dam is an operating water discharge work, when it is necessary to discharge water to catch floods to protect the work or when it is necessary to supply water for the Northern Delta, the outlet will be opened.

Ho Chi Minh monument on Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant

When visiting, visitors cannot help but come to the President Ho Chi Minh Monument, which started construction on January 8, 1996 and was inaugurated on the 67th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3, 1997. Uncle Ho statue was built on the top of Ong Tuong hill at an altitude of 186m above sea level. The author is sculptor Nguyen Vu An, Hanoi University of Architecture. The architecture of the monument courtyard was made by Russian architect Serebriansk. The whole statue of Uncle Ho has a height of 18m, in which the body of the statue is 13.5m high, the pedestal is 4.5m high; weighs about 400 tons with super high concrete, granite concrete. On the pedestal of the monument is engraved Ho Chi Minh teachings for generations of young Vietnamese to study and follow:

"Nothing is difficult

The only fear that our heart is not determined

We can leave mountains and fulfill the sea

If our heart are determined"

The monument of President Ho Chi Minh on the Hoa Binh hydropower project has the largest scale in Vietnam. This place also leaves in the hearts of every visitor great feelings about the genius leader of the Vietnamese nation.

Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant is the first large industrial complex of the period of Industrialization - Modernization in our country, a symbol of Vietnamese wisdom and strength in the cause of national construction and defense. It is a monument of Vietnam-Soviet friendship. Hoa Binh Hydroelectricity is an attractive destination attracting many tourists to visit and admire the majestic natural landscape and this great work.
