Ban Buoc dates from around the 13th century with the original name of Chua Lot village, then renamed Ban Buoc. Before 1957, Ban Buoc belonged to Bao La commune. In 1957, it was merged into Xam Khoe commune with 100% Thai ethnic people. At the end of 2019, Muoi hamlet was merged, Ban Buoc increased to more than 130 households. When visiting Ban Buoc, visitors are not only overwhelmed with the green color of nature but can also enjoy the comfortable feeling when watching the terraced fields around the village. In the afternoon, visitors will see the blurry blue smoke from the fire stoves in the stilt houses and immerse themselves in the cool Xia stream with the laughter of the mountain boys. Sometimes, in the afternoons with white fog in the highlands, friends enjoy the delicious food of the Thai and Muong ethnic groups.

For Thai women in Mai Chau district, brocade weaving seems to be a mandatory skill, passed down from generation to generation in each family. Most girls starting at the age of ten will be guided by their mother or grandmother, passing on skills and stages to weaving brocade.

To make a satisfactory brocade product, Thai women have started by growing mulberry, raising silkworms to produce soft cotton and silk fibers. After going through many preliminary processing stages, the silk yarns are put into the loom and woven in patterns such as floral weaving, filling weaving, pattern weaving or plain weaving depending on the final product.

Besides the traditional garment products such as blankets, curtains, towels, pillows, clothes, ... Today, with the purpose of meeting the needs of customers, there are more products such as bags, shoes, slippers, stuffed animals and small mementos still made from natural cotton fabrics, following a manual production method from spinning, dyeing to weaving, requiring meticulousness.

Up to now, brocade weaving products of Thai people (Mai Chau) have become a favorite item of tourists as well as present in many domestic markets.
