Description
CHIEN HAMLET, VAN SON COMMUNE
When it mentions Van Son commune (Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province), we can think about ancient tangerine gardens immediately which bring sweet fruits during the economic transition in this upland commune. The origin of the name of the ancient tangerine is that this is a local tangerine, which has been associated with Muong villages here since Muong people was born.
Besides, this land has many things to make first-time visitors impress. There are Van Son cave - a unique national monument in the North, and Muong villages still retain traditional cultural features with traditional handicraft products and specialty of the uplands. Especially, its location is nearly 1000m above sea level, so Van Son commune has cool weather all year round. All of these have created the potentials for tourism development in this commune. With the support of AOP (an Australian non-governmental organization), Tan Lac district has selected Chien hamlet in Van Son commune to build a community tourism site. At the end of July 2019, the tourist area opened and began to welcome guests.
Van Son commune is about 20km away from Highway 6. The road has just been remodeled so the journey is quite convenient. From the center of the commune, turn left about 1km to the community tourist destination Chien hamlet - a small Muong village with more than 70 households and the wild landscape. The village road is upgraded; 3 well-invested homestays have created a new face for Muong village. All households in the village live in traditional stilt houses. Food is also provided by the people themselves, so the visitors will be ensured safety and hygiene. The unique cultural features of the Muong people are being actively restored to serve tourists.
Walking around Chien hamlet, visitors will enjoy the quiet space, fresh air here. The houses on stilts lie close to others, the boundaries delineated by bamboo fences, such a rustic image. Perhaps, that is the unique point in this quite primitive Muong village. Chien village is indeed an ideal place for those who need a bit of "silence" after the hustle and bustle of the city or travelers who like to explore and enjoy new experiences. It only takes more than 2 hours from Hanoi to Van Son, and it is also near famous tourist destinations such as Lac village (Mai Chau), Mu waterfall (Lac Son), this is an ideal stop for a long-day tour.
