On April 9, 2023, at Ninh Kieu Riverside Hotel, Can Tho City, eight expanded Northwestern provinces including Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang and Phu Tho together with Ho Chi Minh City organized a conference to promote and advertise tourism in the eight Northwestern provinces. The conference was attended by Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, along with leaders of the Departments of Tourism, Culture, Sports and Tourism, Investment and Trade Promotion Centers and tourism businesses of the provinces and cities.

The conference was held to strengthen the attraction of tourists from the Western provinces to the Northwestern region and vice versa. It was also an opportunity to connect state management agencies in the field of tourism development and create conditions for tourism businesses in the eight Northwestern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City to meet, exchange, expand market links, and promote tourism development with the Mekong Delta and other provinces.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Ha Van Thang, Director of the Department of Tourism of Lao Cai Province, representative of the cooperation group of eight Northwestern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that "The conference is a forum to introduce, promote, and connect tourism between the Northwestern region and Can Tho City and Mekong Delta provinces. It is an opportunity for investors to research, learn, connect, and cooperate in tourism investment. The provinces always welcome businesses, investors, and evaluate cooperation and linkage for tourism development as an inevitable trend of the tourism industry that needs to be promoted and strengthened. As the leading province, we hope that the provinces will exchange and share experiences to enhance the effectiveness of the program."

The provinces introduced their tourism programs and unique products through video clips and tourism promotional materials. Tourism businesses met to cooperate and connect in building some tourism programs in the future. This will be a good opportunity to promote the cooperation program for tourism development.

According to the 2023 Tourism Development Plan, Hoa Binh aims to welcome 3.5 million tourists, including 450,000 international visitors, generating a total revenue of 3,900 billion Vietnamese dong. The conference on promoting and advertising tourism in the eight Northwestern provinces in Can Tho to introduce and advertise the cultural tourism products of Hoa Binh and the Northwestern region, with the goal of expanding the market and attracting more tourists to achieve the aforementioned target.
